Notes from Jo

I think it is a good idea to check with Jo for each lease to perpetual request.

Please note that the total price paid for upgrading lease licences after the first year to perpetual should equal the total price paid as a perpetual licence would have cost.

This means that if an upgrade was received during the lease term this needs to be accounted for when calculating the price to upgrade to perpetual.

The same rules apply to both licence types, i.e., that if a new version is released within 3 months of purchase this version is provided FOC.

After this period, any release provided to a lease licence will need to be added on to the difference to pay.

Example 1:-

A lease licence was purchased in July 2024 as V21. In April 2025 V22 was provided FOC. At the end of their first year’s lease they would like to upgrade to perpetual.

The price to pay is Full licence + 1-version upgrade – annual lease price – 125 = difference to pay

(A perpetual licence purchased in July 2024 as V21. They purchased the upgrade to V22 in April 2025. Price paid is Full licence + 1-version upgrade).

Example 2:-

A lease licence was purchased in February 2025. In April 2025 V22 was provided FOC. At the end of their first year’s lease they would like to upgrade to perpetual.

The price to pay is Full licence – annual lease price – 125 = difference to pay.

(A perpetual licence purchased in February 2025. In April 2025 V22 was provided FOC as release was within 3 months of purchase. Price paid is Full licence price only).
